Our elegant 16th century genuine traditional Irish bar is famous for its cut stone walls, flag stone floors and blazing turf fires. Our friendly staff are renowned for the warmth of their welcome, their hospitality and excellent service – it is no wonder then that The Abbey Tavern has long been a favourite with locals and visitors alike.

The Abbey Tavern bar has over the years welcomed many famous people through its doors. Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco, Ted Kennedy, Garth Brooks, Neil Diamond, Katherine Hepburn, John Wayne, Kate Beckinsdale and Pierse Brosnan – to name just a few – have all made a visit to The Abbey Tavern a “must do” on their visit to Dublin.

The Abbey Tavern stage has also been graced by many a famous face. The Abbey Tavern was a regular venue for The Dubliners when they were starting out. The Chieftains, Planxty, Christy Moore and Johnny McEvoy also regularly performed at The Abbey Tavern. Most recently TG4 filmed a Christmas special with Imelda May at The Abbey Tavern.
